The Irony Behind Anime Amigos

Posted by RyanStorm - February 10th, 2015

Okay, I've wanted to do this since I started working on the second episode of Anime Amigos.

Despite the fact that I completely shit upon hard core Weeaboos and Otakus, I to a lesser extent am one myself. I don't consider myself a full on Otaku, purely because I hate 90% of the animes I watch and I collect other shit too. That said, for all the animes I like, I've amassed a fairly large collection of swag.

*If you don't give a shit about that, at the bottom of the post I talk about what I'm going to start working on.

Lets get this over with then.

last, but not least...

Now that my Autism is out of the way, I might as well discuss what I'm going to work on next.

I'm going to definitely make at least one more Anime Amigos episode, more if I get more ideas. That said, I'm going to take a quick break from those and make a few parodies I've been dieing to make.

So the next thing you can expect is a few parodies, following those, will be the next Anime Amigos short.

you like azumanga daioh? i like you ^^

Real talk, its one of my favs.
I mostly use it as kick back material, as in, if I watch something really messed up or really deep, I just pop in any episode of Azumanga Daioh to recuperate

Well man, I can appreciate your honesty in all this and it's cool that you showed us what you liked. Shouldn't matter what anybody's into anyway.

To understand irony, you must live it.
To understand meta, you must not get it.

Someone's busted!

Pretty entry level, but Azumanga Daioh is great. Meanwhile I have 200 watched series on my external HDD and not a single peiece of merch.

lol, this isn't everything I've watched, its just shows that I've actually liked enough to purchase merchandise from. Like I said in the post, I haven't liked the great majority of the animes I've watched.

I never really got how people get into this stuff due to the language barrier.

In instances like Cowboy Bebop, the story telling is a lot less Japanese and more Western, which made it easy for a lot of people to get into it. Also the dub acting was simply incredible.
I guess its just sorta something you ease into.

oh yeah, i seem to notice The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is one of your favorites ...which made me think of something
from your anime amigos there was a cosplayer girl dressed as shimakaze from kantai collection. so i can atleast assume that you know that it exist...in the currently airing anime kantai collection.mainly from episode 4 onwards there is a character called "kongou" who ( aside her HILARIOUS engrish ) looks and acts EXACTLY like haruhi (HELL! she is even voiced by the same voice actor" im just curious what you think about this ^^

Oh, thats pretty cool actually.
I haven't actually watched Kantai, because it looks like super gratuitous fan-service, but that sounds interesting. The main thing I liked about Haruhi wasn't so much Suzumiya herself, but Kyon and how grossly relate-able he was. So I probably won't check it out purely to see another Haruhi lol.
I know Angel Beats kinda did something similar with the red-ish pink-ish haired girl, but I was indifferent to Angel Beats and its representation of the character type.
I might just check out some clips to hear the engrish tho lol.
